What is Community Energy?
Community energy is the delivery of local renewable energy projects.
This can be a POWERING UP project such as a local solar system on a school roof which generates power for its host site, and which is funded by the local community. The system will be funded by investors in the local community, who will receive a return on their investment.
The other side of community energy is engagement with local residents and businesses to reduce consumption with POWERING DOWN projects. Using thermal imaging cameras we can assess the energy efficiency of a building and make recommendations that will benefit the environment and your wallet.
How does it work?
We identify projects which can provide community benefit such as solar power on a school roof to provide reduced costs for the user.
We raise investment for the project from the community using community shares and supplementing that with available grant funding.
We manage the legal process, the installation and the maintenance of the system, leaving the users to benefit from low cost, renewable electricity.
Once investors have received their return, profits can be spent on community projects such as addressing fuel poverty, supporting food banks or the vulnerable in our community.
What are the benefits?
Alleviating Fuel poverty
Providing ethical investment opportunities
Stimulating the local economy
